It looks like the Washington Husky softball team might be hitting its stride and heating up as UW continues to prep for Big Ten conference play. In its second game of the OUTRIGGER Invitational in Hawaii, the Washington Husky softball team managed to beat up on the Howard Bison and defeated its foe with ease in a run rule victory.

It took a grand total of five innings for Washington to secure the 8-0 shutout win in Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium and the win bumped the Husky softball team to 11-7 on the season as Howard fell to 4-10 on the year so far.

The Huskies should be proud of how they performed, both in this game and also lately. This is a team that has now won five games in a row and has won seven of its last 10 games. That’s pretty decent. And a win like this should (theoretically) help the Huskies continue to build momentum as they move forward.

The Huskies were able to break this game open pretty early. After a scoreless first inning for both teams, UW put two runs on the board in the second inning as Ava Carroll hit a two-run home run. Then, in the third inning, things really started going in Washington’s direction as the Huskies put five runs on the board and really put the game out of reach early on.

Alexis DeBoer managed to go 2-for-3 at the plate with a home run and three RBIs. Carroll had that aforementioned home run and a couple RBIs of her own. And then Alycia Flores went 1-for-3 at the plate and had a couple RBIs off a double.

The Huskies looked pretty good in this one. Morgan Reimer threw a complete game shutout in the five innings of this contest. During that timeframe, she managed to strike out seven batters and only threw a grand total of 56 pitches. UW is on a bit of a roll and that feels pretty good to say.
