While the Washington Huskies have yet to grab a win in conference play in the Big Ten, but they did just grab a double digit victory over a familiar foe this week. And that feels pretty good. Danny Sprinkle and the Washington Huskies men’s basketball team snagged a 26-point win over the Washington State Cougars in an 89-73 win in the 300th meeting of the two teams.

The Huskies were led by DJ Davis, who put up a solid 21 points and also dished out four assists, grabbed three rebounds, and snagged a pair of steals. Davis was one of three Huskies who really showcased some sharpshooting as he, Mekhi Mason, and Tyler Harris all hit on three shots from behind the three point line.

Washington going 10 for 21 from behind the arc while Washington State was just 6 for 20 from deep is just one of the reasons why the Huskies were able to come out on top of this game.

Washington also managed to force 22 turnovers while only giving up the ball a grand total of seven times. And the Huskies were able to take those 22 turnovers and turn them into 24 points for UW, which was pretty big given that Washington State had just four points off seven turnovers.

Things were actually pretty close in the first half as UW carried a slim four point lead with the score at 35-31 at half. But a 14-2 run early in the second half allowed the Huskies to build a clearly insurmountable advantage over the Cougars.

The Huskies are now 8-3 overall this season and they’re looking to continue building momentum as they move forward. UW is 0-2 in Big Ten play, but Sprinkle’s team gets a couple more non-conference games to try and get some more momentum from before facing Maryland in the new year.
