Osani Gayles is a name that's turning heads across the country, and about every major program is after his services next season. He's currently a 4-star wide receiver but could easily see an update to a 5-star in the next update as he's a top-10 player at his position. He put up insane numbers in California before transferring to IMG Academy to help get his game ready for the next level.
He has over 30 offers, and every major player is trying to grab him. However, Washington just received an exciting update on his recruiting journey. Gayles has narrowed his list to five schools, and the Huskies made the cut. According to Hayes Fawcett, he's now down to Alabama, Tennessee, Washington, Notre Dame, and Stanford.

This is a good list for Gayles and makes a lot of sense for how his recruitment has been trending. It has a local option (as he's native to California) at Stanford. He also has four of the top recruiting programs left. Washington wasn't considered high on his list according to On3.com and was given a small chance with many more programs higher that are now cut from the list. On3 considers Stanford the favorite.
24/7 Sports, on the other hand, had Alabama, Tennessee, and USC as the three top in the race. However, USC has been cut, and thus proves that no one quite knows where his recruitment is at. Washington may have been a dark horse until this update.
The other good news for Jedd Fisch and the Huskies is that Gayles has locked in an official visit with Washington, as well as the other four on his list. This recruitment is going to play out through the visits, but Fisch is in the race, and he's good at capturing his top targets.
