Washington Huskies RB Jonah Coleman in top 5 in Big Ten in rushing yards per attempt
By Ethan Lee
Heading into this weekend’s matchup against the Oregon Ducks, the Washington Huskies have been able to run the ball pretty well all throughout the season. Jonah Coleman, the Huskies’ star running back who transferred from Arizona to play on Montlake, is one of the most effective runners in the Big Ten this season.
As the Huskies get set to take on the top-ranked Ducks, Coleman heads into Washington’s rivalry week matchup with one of the most impressive yards per carry average in the Big Ten at the moment. He’s certainly been instrumental in Washington being able to find success this season and he’s been consistently impressive.
Going into the last regular season game of the 2024 Washington football schedule, Coleman is averaging a solid 5.8 yards per attempt. That’s flat out impressive and makes it clear that he’s difficult for opposing defenses to slow down or stop.
For a Washington offense that was tasked with overhauling just about every main contributor in its lineup from 2023, Coleman has been a pleasant addition to this team.

- TreVeyon Henderson (Ohio State Buckeyes) - 7.4 yards per attempt
- Kaleb Johnson (Iowa Hawkeyes) - 6.7 yards per attempt
- Nicholas Singleton (Penn State Nittany Lions) - 6.0 yards per attempt
- Jonah Coleman (Washington Huskies) - 5.8 yards per attempt
- Woody Marks (USC Trojans) - 5.7 yards per attempt
- Jordan James (Oregon Ducks) - 5.6 yards per attempt

- Emmett Johnson (Nebraska Cornhuskers) - 5.4 yards per attempt
- Kalel Mullings (Michigan Wolverines) - 5.4 yards per attempt
- Devin Mockobee (Purdue Boilermakers) - 5.4 yards per attempt)
That’s pretty impressive company for Coleman to be in. Especially when considering how much talent the Big Ten has at running back in any given season. And with the news that Coleman will be back for another season, Washington Husky fans should expect even more big things from their talented running back next year.
