Oregon Ducks star RB Jordan James will make life difficult for Washington Huskies
By Ethan Lee
He’s one of the most talented running backs in the country and he’s incredibly difficult for opposing defenses to slow down when he’s healthy. Oregon Ducks running back Jordan James has become a force on their offense and he’s emerged as a very crucial part of the Ducks’ success throughout this season.
Dillon Gabriel gets a ton of national attention because of the way he’s shattered career records in his sixth season of college football action, but James should be getting some attention and recognition for Oregon’s dynamic offensive success as well.
And of course, when you’re able to pair a quarterback who has thrown for more than 3,000 yards with a running back who is as dangerous in the open field as James is, you get a ridiculously dangerous offense that is incredibly difficult to defend.
Unfortunately, that’s the case here for the Washington Huskies. There’s a good chance that James and Gabriel cause a few headaches for Washington in Autzen Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Oregon Ducks players to watch vs. Washington Huskies: Jordan James is a frighteningly talented running back
So far this season, James has run for 1,067 yards and 11 touchdowns. He’s one of the most productive running backs in the Big Ten and he adds a crucial level of consistency to Oregon’s offense that balances things out for the Ducks.
Oh, and it’s worth noting that James has managed to run for all of those yards by gaining 5.6 yards per carry. He’s a difficult running back to stop and Washington might have its hands full trying to slow him down this weekend.
That’s especially true when considering that Washington’s run defense is among the worst in the Big Ten as the Huskies allow over 150 rushing yards per game. Should UW’s strong secondary show the ability to slow down Oregon’s dynamic passing attack, don’t be shocked if the Ducks work to take advantage of the weakness in Washington’s run defense.
Oh, and Washington’s linebackers and safeties will also need to account for the fact that James is also used in Oregon’s passing attack. He’s versatile. He’s definitely someone that Washington will need to watch out for in this game.
