Tina Langley and her Washington Huskies sure are having some fun right now. UW is now on a three-game winning streak and is fresh off its second road win in a row as the Huskies took down the Minnesota Golden Gophers in Minneapolis.

Man, that feels good. It feels good to see the Huskies playing up to their potential as the regular season is winding down. UW just improved its record to 18-12 overall and 8-9 in Big Ten play while the Golden Gophers now sit at 20-10 overall and 8-9 against Big Ten competition.

Given that Minnesota was once one game ahead of Washington in the Big Ten women’s basketball standings before this 10-point beating, this game seems pretty important for the Huskies to have claimed as the Big Ten women’s basketball tournament gets closer and closer.

And Langley and the Huskies (as well as all WAshington Husky women’s basketball fans) should be grateful for the monumental performance that Elle Ladine put up to guide UW to this 10-point road win in the Midwest.

The Huskies, once down by seven points in the first quarter, were able to build momentum as the game wore on. Washington found a way to tie things up at half and then surged ahead after halftime with some truly impressive shooting.

Once the third quarter rolled around, Washington outscored the Golden Gophers 24-11 and then UW did enough to keep the lead out of reach in the final frame of the game.

Back to Ladine for a moment, she was arguably the best example of how Washington was remarkably efficient shooting throughout this game. I mean, just incredible! In the 35 minutes that Ladine was on the court, she made 10 of her 13 shots from the field, was a perfect 4-for-4 from behind the three point line, and then made two of her three free throws.

That’s, uh, good folks. Just, you know. It’s really good.

When Washington was trailing by seven points at the end of the first quarter, it’s because the Huskies only managed to hit on 25 percent of their shots.

Which is the opposite of good. It’s flat out horrendous.

But, through the rest of the game, Washington made 83.3 percent of its shots in the second quarter, 71.43 percent of its shots in the third, and then 62.5 percent of its shots to close things out in the fourth quarter.

The Huskies needed this one. It wasn’t a game that will define Washington’s season, but the Huskies continued their recent momentum in Big Ten play ahead of their final conference game this weekend when the Oregon Ducks come to town. And Oregon doesn’t look impossible to beat.
