While the Washington Huskies haven’t been getting him the ball enough at times this season, Jonah Coleman is still among the most productive running backs in the Big Ten this year. And that’s a pretty cool thing to brag about for the talented running back and Washington Huskies football fans.

After week nine and eight Washington Husky football games, Coleman currently sits at fourth among the Big Ten’s rushing leaders as he has 785 rushing yards.

Washington’s offense may have its flaws, but Coleman has done a great job of establishing himself among the league's most productive backs.

That’s huge given all that has changed for Coleman this year. He’s playing in an offense that he’s familiar with, but it's what is essentially a brand new team. Yes, he’s familiar with what the coaching staff wants to accomplish, but just about everything else is new given that he transferred from Tucson, Arizona and the Arizona Wildcats to continue playing for Jedd Fisch.

Big Ten rushing yards leaders after week 9

Here’s what the rushing yards leaders in the Big Ten conference look like after nine weeks of play:

  • Kaleb Johnson (Iowa Hawkeyes) - 1,144 yards
  • Kyle Monangai (Rutgers Scarlet Knights) - 931 yards
  • Jordan James (Oregon Ducks) - 800 yards
  • Jonah Coleman (Washington Huskies) - 785 yards
  • Woody Marks (USC Trojans) - 755 yards

Coleman has been a key part of Washington’s offense this season and he’s seamlessly stepped into the featured role at running back after showcasing plenty of potential during his time with the Wildcats. He’s efficient and productive and is thriving in a conference that is full of robust and challenging defenses.

And despite the fact that Washington has faced some very challenging rush defenses already, Coleman’s 785 yards are still pretty impressive. He’s ranking among the best in the Big Ten, a conference that is certainly well known for having physical and impressive rushing attacks.
