Danny Sprinkle’s first season in Seattle was, uh, rather forgettable. Or, well, I’m sure there are plenty of people out there that really, really want to forget how things went for Sprinkle and his Washington Huskies this past season.

The Washington Husky men’s basketball team didn’t have much fun! Washington Husky basketball fans didn’t have much fun! It just wasn’t a great year for UW on the basketball court.

However, things might be changing a bit this coming season. There’s a ton of talent that’s about to make its way to Seattle and the Huskies are boasting one of the best recruiting classes in the Big Ten after the transfer portal window shut.

According to the folks over at On3, Washington currently has the second-best recruiting class in the Big Ten. That’s not something that we can just overlook or ignore. That could really have an impact on the outcome of some games this coming season.

Meet the new Huskies that Danny Sprinkle is bringing to Seattle to revamp the Washington Husky men’s basketball roster

There are a ton of talented players in this crop of high school commits and transfer portal additions and we could really see an intriguing roster for the Huskies this coming season. Let’s (quickly) go over the Huskies in this class and how they rank, according to On3.

High school commits headed to join the Huskies

  • Niko Bundalo - PF, No. 31 nationally, Signed 11/27/24
  • JJ Mandaquit - PG, No. 48 nationally, Signed 11/12/24
  • Courtland Muldrew - SG, No. 99 nationally, Signed 10/08/24
  • Jasir Rencher - SF, No. 105 nationally, Hard Commit 4/11/25

That’s a pretty well rounded group, but it doesn’t address much in the frontcourt. And that’s an area that Washington could have benefitted from having some help in this past season. Thankfully, the transfer portal exists and allowed Sprinkle to round things out a bit with this transfer class.

Transfers that Danny Sprinkle landed to come to Seattle

  • Bryson Tucker - SF, Indiana, Committed 4/18/25
  • Wesley Yates - SG, USC, No. 27 nationally, Committed 4/10/25
  • Lathan Sommerville - C, Rutgers, Committed 4/01/25
  • Quimari Peterson - PG, ETSU, Committed 4/03/25
  • Jacob Ognacevic - PF, Lipscomb, Committed 4/06/25

Yeah, that’s a pretty solid bunch.

Washington Huskies hold impressive spot in 2025 Big Ten men’s basketball recruiting rankings

And the Huskies are holding on to a pretty impressive spot in the Big Ten men’s basketball rankings, according to On3. Right now, Sprinkle and UW are trailing just the USC Trojans in the 2025 men’s basketball rankings.

  1. USC Trojans
  2. Washington Huskies
  3. Michigan State Spartans
  4. Michigan Wolverines
  5. Ohio State Buckeyes
  6. Penn State Nittany Lions
  7. Indiana Hoosiers
  8. Rutgers Scarlet Knights
  9. Northwestern Wildcats
  10. Minnesota Golden Gophers
  11. Illinois Fighting Illini
  12. Wisconsin Badgers
  13. Purdue Boilermakers
  14. Nebraska Cornhuskers
  15. Oregon Ducks
  16. Iowa Hawkeyes

I have no clue exactly what to expect from the Huskies this coming season, it could conceivably take another year or two for things to truly mesh and get going in the right direction, but this sort of recruiting class could do a lot of good for a program that is seeking something that resembles a positive direction. Shoutout to Sprinkle for landing a huge recruiting class.
