Friday evening, Jedd Fisch and the Washington Huskies welcomed the UCLA Bruins into Husky Stadium for what was UW’s final home game of the season. And the Huskies certainly made the most of it. Washington needed a victory over the Bruins to make it to six wins and become bowl eligible.
Thankfully for Washington Husky football fans, that’s exactly what happened. To the tune of 31-19, Washington defended its home turf and was able to secure a spot in a bowl game.
To go right along with that, Washington has now won 20 consecutive games at Husky Stadium. It has been three years since the Huskies have come up short at home. All things considered, that’s kinda remarkable, folks.
That’s something that should be celebrated. In a rebuilding year, Washington went unbeaten at home, beating the likes of Weber State, Eastern Michigan, Northwestern, No. 10 Michigan, USC, and now UCLA. That’s not bad!
Say what you will about UW’s ability to compete in venues other than Alaska Airlines Field at Husky Stadium, but the Dawgs sure look good when playing in Seattle.
WATCH: Washington Huskies vs. UCLA Bruins 2024 full game highlights
Thanks to the Washington Huskies athletics department and their willingness to share this video on YouTube, we now get the distinct pleasure of watching the Huskies take care of business against the UCLA Bruins whenever we want.
We should celebrate and appreciate that.
So, let’s do what we can to celebrate and appreciate that by watching this video (and maybe watching an ad if one shows up so that the Huskies get a little ad revenue):
Jedd Fisch and the Huskies are now bowl eligible. That’s a pretty big deal for a team that was struggling to play consistent football for much of the season. Now, UW gets a bye week before facing off against the Oregon Ducks to wrap up the regular season. Then there’s 15 more practices courtesy of the bowl game. And then the bowl game. It’s hard to believe the 2024 college football season is already almost over.
