A win over the UCLA Bruins is getting Jedd Fisch and the Washington Huskies 15 additional practices and a whole other game tacked on to the end of this season. That’s right, the Washington Huskies are going bowling.
This hasn’t been the season that many Washington Husky fans were hoping for, but UW did show some intriguing potential in Fisch’s first season on Montlake. And there’s no doubt that those additional reps and practices will help the Huskies continue to develop under their new head coach.
So, where will the Huskies go bowling this season? Well, if you like to travel, go ahead and pack your suitcase and prepare your airline reward miles. Because there’s a good chance UW will be flying across the country for their bowl game.
College football bowl projections: 2024 Washington Huskies
Let’s go over a few of the most recent Washington Huskies college football bowl projections, shall we?
A trip to Las Vegas could be fun for Washington Husky fans. Brett McMurphy of the Action Network has the Huskies taking on the Texas A&M Aggies. But, while Vegas in and of itself could be fun, playing the Texas A&M Aggies this season? That’d kinda suck, to be completely honest. The Aggies look really good this year, especially up front on the defensive line.
What about a trip to Los Angeles? That could be enjoyable, and fitting given that Washington had to beat UCLA to get bowl eligibility this season. USA Today’s Erick Smith has the Huskies competing in the LA Bowl against the UNLV Rebels, which seems manageable.
Albuquerque is a cool city and ESPN’s Kyle Bonagura projected the Huskies to make the Isleta New Mexico Bowl against the Colorado State Rams.
That likely won’t excite many Washington Husky fans, but it’d probably be a more enjoyable destination for most UW fans than the Independence Bowl and Shreveport, Louisiana.
Look, I have a deep appreciation for Shreveport and that part of the world. Big fan of the northern parts of Louisiana and deep East Texas. But I suspect most Husky fans won’t want to see UW travel there to play Army, as CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm is predicting, or Tulane, as Athlon Sports’ Steven Lassan is projecting. Heck, ESPN’s Mark Schlabach has the Huskies playing the Cincinnati Bearcats there.
A lot could change between now and when the Huskies actually get to play in a bowl game (and we’ll keep you updated on everything between now and then).
