As the Washington Huskies gear up to take on the USC Trojans, one former Washington two-sport legend is getting set to be an honorary captain for the Huskies. On Thursday, the Huskies announced that former basketball and football player Nate Robinson is set to serve as the honorary captain for the home game against the USC Trojans.

For those who only know of Robinson because of his NBA days, let’s brush up on his history for a moment, shall we? Robinson was briefly a star for both the Washington Huskies football team and the Washington Huskies men’s basketball team.

After playing cornerback for the Huskies during the 2002 season, Robinson ultimately decided to focus his efforts on basketball. And he absolutely thrived. The Seattle native had a thrilling career for the Huskies and managed to be one of the best players in the Pac-10 during his time on Montlake.

And then in the 2005 draft, the Washington basketball star took off for the NBA, where he happened to be a 1st round pick by the Phoenix Suns.

He wasn’t with the Suns for very long. He managed to get traded to the New York Knicks on draft night. And it was with the Kniocks that Robinson spent a rather significant portion of his NBA career. From 2005 to 2010, Robinson played in New York.

He then made his way on over to the Boston Celtics, where he stayed for 2010-2011. Robinson spent the 2011 season with the Oklahoma City Thunder, the 2012 season with the Golden State Warriors, and then landed in Chicago, where he played from 2012 to 2013. From there, he made his way to the Denver Nuggets until 2015. During the 2015 season, Robinson also spent some time with the Los Angeles Clippers and the New Orleans Pelicans.

He bounced around to a few international teams after that and then called it a career in 2018.

Now Robinson is returning home to help the Huskies get their game against the USC Trojans started this Saturday.
