VCU's Terrence Hill Jr. came off the bench for the Rams and scored 34 points, absolutely taking over the game and helping the No. 11 seed knock off the No. 6 seed North Carolina. Washington Husky fans were quick to pull out the receipts that Hill was a one-time commit to Danny Sprinkle when Sprinkle was the head coach at Utah State.
Now, the question is, can Sprinkle find a way to get him via the portal if Hill is to jump into it after his prove-it performance against North Carolina? Hill showed that he can compete at the highest level and knock off the biggest foes. He went for 34 points, five rebounds, and five assists. He went 7-10 from deep. That's an important note for Sprinkle and Washington.
Danny Sprinkle already got Terrance Hill Jr. to commit out of high school, maybe a transfer candidate?
Ask any Husky basketball fan, shoot, ask Sprinkle himself what he needed more of this season, and everyone would answer, shooting. Well, maybe they would say health, but on the gameside of things, it is shooting. Specifically, outside shooting. It was Quimari Peterson as the best outside shooter and then a big ol' dropoff.
Hill would immediately fill that void. This wasn't a one-off performance from the 6'3 guard from Portland. He's made 71 threes this season and is shooting at a 35.5% rate from behind the arc. He can also score in other ways, but is known for his ability to shoot the three.
Hill may not want to transfer and may have no plans to do so, but the Sprinkle connection is intriguing, given the Huskies' clear position of need. He is also a Pacific Northwest player out of Portland.
This is only his second year in college and is listed as a sophomore guard by VCU. Next season, he would be going into his junior year, and he has gone from 3.4 points a game last season to 14.4 points a game in 2026. He looks like a prime candidate to see if he can take his game to the high major level, and if so, Sprinkle needs to swoop in and get him to be a Husky.
Sprinkle got a commitment from Hill once, can he get him once again if the guard were to transfer.
