Something that’s truly fascinating to me is the way that the top of the Big Ten standings for women’s basketball have been drastically impacted by the addition of the former members of the Pac-12. While Tina Langley and the Washington Huskies have some work to do, the USC Trojans and UCLA Bruins currently own the top two spots in the conference.

The Trojans and Bruins have held on tight to the top of the standings lately. Right now, USC is holding on to a 15-game winning streak that has helped them improve to 19-1 overall and 9-0 in conference play. Meanwhile, the Bruins are a perfect 20-0 overall and have an 8-0 conference record.

Let’s check out what the standings look like as the Washington Huskies get set to meet up with the Ohio State Buckeyes on Sunday, February 2.

Big Ten women’s basketball standings, January 31, 2025: UCLA Bruins and USC Trojans claim the top two spots

Here’s what the Big Ten standings look like right now:

  • USC Trojans (19-1, 9-0)
  • UCLA Bruins (20-0, 8-0)
  • Ohio State Buckeyes (19-1, 8-1)
  • Maryland Terrapins (17-4, 7-3)
  • Michigan State Spartans (17-4, 7-3)
  • Nebraska Cornhuskers (16-5, 7-3)
  • Oregon Ducks (16-5, 7-3)
  • Minnesota Golden Gophers (18-4, 6-4)
  • Illinois Fighting Illini (16-5, 6-4)
  • Indiana Hoosiers (13-7, 5-4)
  • Michigan Wolverines (14-7, 5-5)
  • Washington Huskies (13-8, 4-5)
  • Iowa Hawkeyes (14-7, 4-6)
  • Wisconsin Badgers (11-10, 2-8)
  • Penn State Nittany Lions (10-12, 1-10)
  • Rutgers Scarlet Knights (9-13, 1-10)
  • Northwestern Wildcats (7-12, 0-8)
  • Purdue Boilermakers (7-14, 0-10)

Again, Washington has some work to do. Tina Langley and the Huskies have shown some potential, but there’s still room for improvement. Thankfully, this season isn’t over yet and the Huskies have a few winnable games left. Should UW find a way to snag a couple more wins down the stretch, their postseason picture (and these conference standings) will look even better sooner rather than later.
