Look, there’s no way around it, the Washington Huskies came up short in frustrating fashion when they fell against the Seattle Redhawks. There’s really very little positive to take away from any sort of loss against a struggling WAC team.
I’m not trying to gloss over Washington’s loss here or pump sunshine. I just want to acknowledge the totality of what this game was. Because it’s absolutely worth noting that it wasn’t all bad for the Huskies and there was a really solid effort from Tyler Harris to keep the Huskies in the game.
Harris has, on multiple occasions so far this season, shown that he can be a dangerous scoring threat for Washington’s offense. That was certainly the case once again as Harris put on a show against the Redhawks.
Washington Huskies men’s basketball: Tyler Harris shows promise and potential against Seattle Redhawks
Washington leaned hard on Harris as he played 37 minutes against the Redhawks. During that time, he was pretty productive, scoring a team-leading 20 points. Harris managed to be pretty efficient, making seven of his 10 shots against the Redhawks defense. It’s also worth noting that Harris made both of the three point attempts that he took against Seattle.
Interestingly enough, Harris managed to score 17 of his 20 points in the second half. So, while Washington was trying to claw back into the game, Harris played a pretty pivotal role for the Huskies cutting into the deficit down the stretch.
To go along with those points, Harris also grabbed six rebounds. Those half dozen rebounds actually ended up being the second-most on Washington’s roster against Seattle.
So far this season, Harris is averaging 14 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. This was his third game in which he scored 20 or more points so far. That’s not bad.
It’s a shame that Washington wasn’t able to better take advantage of the offensive output Harris had in this game, but it really looks like he’ll be able to play a pivotal role for Danny Sprinkle and the Huskies as UW continues to build as a program.
