Danny Sprinkle is staring down the barrel of another active offseason in the transfer portal. He has become familiar with that strategy, and it's happening again. He was already looking to replace multiple seniors, but now an upcoming portal entry is signaling he could be losing his young core, too. Courtland Muldrew is planning to enter the transfer portal when it opens, according to multiple reports.
Muldrew was a star freshman who really came on for Sprinkle and Washington towards the end of the season and looked primed for a big sophomore role. However, he's decided to look for a new opportunity in the portal.

Muldrew's stats listed in the social media post above don't really tell the story of his ability. He was mostly learning the system and riding the bench to start the season. As the injuries continued to pile up for Washington, Muldrew got more and more run. He played in 19 games this season (counting the Big Ten Tournament), and yet in nine of those games, he saw less than ten minutes.
At the end of the season, he had eight straight games where he had double-digit minutes, including five that were 20+ minutes. So, while his season stats say 3.3 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 1.5 assists. In that final stretch of eight games, he averaged 6.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.9 assists. That's a big difference.
He's a player with a ton of potential, and it feels like a frustrating loss for the Huskies. Sprinkle will now be digging into the portal again, especially since he has no one coming in for the 2026 recruiting class. He either has to retain his guys or replace them in the portal. Those are his two options.
While Muldrew is a product of his time, where the transfer portal allows this sort of movement, he may also signal that there are more losses to come for the Washington Huskies.
