This, my friends, is another instance of a guy being the guy to follow “the guy.” And this is another instance of where it actually worked out really, really well for the guy and also the Washington Huskies. Because Myles Gaskin was something special and Washington Husky fans should really be grateful that he played in Seattle.
During his first season with the Huskies, Gaskin broke the 1,000-yard or more threshold and he seemingly did it surprisingly easily. In 2015, Gaskin managed to run for 1,302 yards on 227 carries (which is good for 5.7 rushing yards per carry) and he scored a grand total of 14 touchdowns.
Gaskin was remarkable. He also averaged 100.2 yards per game, ran for 181 yards against the Southern Miss Golden Eagles, and he currently ranks in at No. 10 in Washington Husky football history when it comes to single-season rushing records. OH! and Gaskin did all of that as a freshman.
It’s incredible.
Washington Husky football history: Myles Gaskin was incredible in 2015
This is actually another interesting instance where the star running back got off to a slow and dilapidated start for UW as the Boise State Broncos held Gaskin to a meager five yards on five carries. But, against Sacramento State, Gaskin ran for 146 yards on 14 carries (which is good for 10.4 yards per carry).
What about a tougher opponent?!
Well, against the USC Trojans, the Huskies managed to run for 134 yards on a total of 22 carries (which equals 6.1 yards per carry). When facing the Oregon Ducks, Gaskin ran for 155 yards thanks to 18 different carries.
And again, we’re talking about a freshman accomplishing all of that and then also scoring a grand total of 14 touchdowns in this season. This was an incredible start to Gaskin’s career with the Huskies and it was a clear indicator that he was going to accomplish amazing things on Montlake.
