I mean, Bishop Sankey was unreal when he played for the Washington Huskies. We’re talking about a guy who managed to shatter a single-season rushing record 17 years after it was set. He was just truly remarkable.

In 2013, after running for over 1,400 yards during the 2012 season, Sankey happened to run for 1,870 yards. That should sound like a lot of yards. Because it is a lot of yards. Sankey was unstoppable. And again, he truly shattered the single-season rushing yards record that Corey Dillon set in 1996 when he ran for 1,695 yards.

I’m sure you’ll be surprised to learn that Sankey led the Pac-12 in rushing yards per game as he gained an average of 143.8 rushing yards per game. He also carried the ball 327 times which is another single season record) and he scored 20 touchdowns (which is a lot of touchdowns)!

Washington Husky football history: Hey, guys, Bishop Sankey ran for more than 1000 yards again in 2013

Oh, and Sankey was efficient. During this season of nearly 1900 rushing yards, Sankey happened to average 5.7 yards per carry. And all of this helped the Huskies get to a 9-4 record.

How did he get to those 1870 rushing yards? Well, Sankey had games like against the Arizona Wildcats, where he got 40 carries (for a total of 161 rushing yards) and then games like against the California Golden Bears, who he ran for 241 yards against.

Sankey also happened to run for 208 yards on 35 carries against the Illinois Fighting Illini and 200 yards on the nose against the Washington State Cougars. And when facing the No. 2 Oregon Ducks, Sankey ran for 167 yards. And yeah, I’m sure you’ll be shocked to learn that during the 2013 season, Sankey had 10 games where he ran for 100 or more yards.
