During the 2017 Washington Husky football season, we once again had a Husky football player gain over 1000 rushing yards in a season. And once again, we had Myles Gaskin finding a way to be that player. This is now back-to-back-to-back 1,000 yard rushing seasons for the insanely talented running back and he does deserve more attention.

In 2017, Gaskin ran for 1,380 yards on 222 carries (the math on my calculator is telling me that this average is 6.2 yards per carry. And that is truly something to celebrate and behold. But you know what else is?

The fact that the Washington Huskies managed to have 21 rushing touchdowns. THAT IS SO MANY TOUCHDOWNS TO CELEBRATE AS A FAMILY AND WITH YOUR FRIENDS. In what was supposed to be his third consecutive season of running for 1,000 yards, that stat is almost inconsequential to the fact that Gaskin had TWENTY-ONE TOUCHDOWNS to work with.

Washington Husky football history: Myles Gaskin continued to be unreal and great for the Huskies in 2016

On seven different occasions, Gaskin happened to get 100 or more rushing yards. And I may or may not be impressed with this particular list of teams that Gaskin ran for 100 or more yards against:

  • Colorado Buffaloes
  • Oregon State Beavers
  • Oregon Ducks
  • UCLA Bruins
  • Stanford Cardinal
  • Utah Utes
  • Washington State Cougars

That includes running for 202 yards against the Buffs.

During this season for the Huskies, Gaskin started making very serious progress toward compiling his collection of 100-yard rushing games as well as the collection of multiple touchdown games. All throughout 2017, Gaskin proved just how dynamic of a rusher he can be and just how dangerous his presence can be for Washington’s offense. I mean, he averaged 6.2 yards per carry this season. That’s really impressive.
