While it seems like Tina Langley and the Washington Huskies haven’t exactly always been able to deal with the challenges of the Big Ten in the way that UW fans would hope they might (that’d be by beating just about anyone and everyone, which is probably not totally, 100 percent possible for anyone, to be honest), the Huskies do have a chance to end this season in a really solid manner.
There are a number of games remaining on the 2024-2025 Washington Huskies women’s basketball schedule that will be *theoretically* winnable. But, well, it’s not truly a given that Washington will actually come out on top of any of these games.
So, let’s start taking a look at the various different games that remain on the Washington Huskies’ schedule and try to figure out where the Huskies have their best shot at getting a win (or two or three or maybe hopefully more than that).
Breaking down Washington Huskies women’s basketball’s best chances of getting wins down the stretch of the season
We’ll go over the “least likely” to win and rank it all the way down to the “most likely” wins, according to ESPN Analytics Matchup Predictor tool.
- Maryland (32.2 percent win probability) - Feb. 9 - The Washington Huskies have a decent chance of challenging the Maryland Terrapins and maybe that’s because this is a home game for the Huskies. I don’t know. Maybe it’s because the Terrapins haven’t been as sharp as they’ve wanted to be as of late. I guess we’ll see how these two teams match up.
- Oregon (32.3 percent win probability) - Feb. 12 - Hey, look, a rivalry game and the first of two meetings between the Oregon Ducks and the Washington Huskies women’s basketball team. This trip to Eugene could be a challenge, or maybe we see the Huskies surprise some folks and get a road win in Big Ten play.
- Oregon (52.3 percent win probability) - Mar. 2 - What a difference a home game makes in these equations. It’s probably not the only factor in play here, but I’d be curious to know if there is anything else driving it to be this different from the game in Eugene.
- Penn State (62.5 percent win probability) - Feb. 5 - We’re not far from finding out how this one will play out, but there is a little bit of time between now and this matchup with the Penn State Nittany Lions. Things could still change here a bit.
- Rutgers (88.7 percent win probability) - Feb. 20 - Can we play this game now? And can Rutgers be the only team that Washington plays for the remainder of the season? Like, can they play against each other repeatedly? Is that too much to ask?
Langley and the Huskies have a shot to move this season back in the right direction and these games could certainly help with that. We just need that to actually happen. We’ll see if it does.
