16. Maryland Terrapins

Last season: 4-8 (1-8 Big Ten)

Just as the top three of the conference is very top-heavy, the bottom three is very bottom-heavy.

Maryland didn't really have anything going for them last season, and it should be more of the same this year. True freshman quarterback Malik Washington is an intriguing player, but they sadly don't even have the benefit of playing the teams below them on this list on their schedule.

17. Northwestern Wildcats

Last season: 4-8 (2-7 Big Ten)

The Wildcats always seem to have some grit to them, but unfortunately every game for them will be an upward battle in the expanded Big Ten. They luckily get to play Purdue at home and Minnesota in a home game at Wrigley Field that could be interesting, but every other conference game on the schedule should be pegged for losses.

18. Purdue Boilermakers

Last season: 1-11 (0-9 Big Ten)

Purdue fans are lucky they have basketball season to look forward to, as their football season looks to be a disaster from start to finish.

Newly-hired head coach Barry Odom may bring some renewed energy to West Lafayette, but don't be surprised if this team goes winless in the Big Ten once again.
