With the 2024 Washington Husky football season getting closer and closer, Husky fans will soon get the chance to once again enjoy college football in Seattle. And, with the start of the 2024 Washington Husky football season, there’s an emphasis being put on Seattle.

That’s right, the season opener against Weber State is being themed as “Seattle Sports Day.”

According to a press release from back in April, the University of Washington athletics department states that local professional sports organizations will be making their way on over to Montlake to join in on the fun that is Washington Huskies football.

As the press release notes Seattle Sports Day will help celebrate “the championship sports culture in the Emerald City.”

Seems like a pretty solid way to kick off the inaugural season in the Big Ten Conference for Jedd Fisch and the Washington Husky football team.

There’s a lot to celebrate from last season and it’s great to see the Huskies do what they can to celebrate with all of Seattle. Specific details about the theme haven’t exactly been easy to find, but there’s a ton of history with the Seattle sports scene.

Just going over the pro sports in the city, we’ve got the following:

  • Sounders
  • Seahawks
  • Mariners
  • Storm
  • Kraken
  • Reign
  • Seawolves
  • Orcas

And of course there’s other teams out there as well. You’ve got the Seattle Redhawks and Seattle Pacific Falcons, but we’re probably not going to see folks from those universities at this event. Or maybe we will and I’ll be surprised? I don’t know.

Either way, it’s cool to see a unifying effort to recognize the rich and deep culture of sports in the Emerald City. Especially as the Washington Huskies get their Big Ten era started up this season.

And on top of all of that, it’ll be great to recognize the historic 2023 season that we got to see last year. Let’s celebrate the Pac-12 Championship, the Sugar Bowl win over Texas, making it into the College Football Playoff National Championship. That’s something to enjoy. And this is an opportunity to enjoy that.
