Jedd Fisch and the Washington Huskies aren’t in a great position. The Huskies’ first Big Ten road trip has been plagued by penalties and errors and as a result, Rutgers is holding on to a 14-3 lead at halftime.

Throughout the game up to this point, Washington’s offense hasn’t been able to consistently take advantage of opportunities, the Huskies have missed a field goal, and there have been way too many penalties on Washington’s part in this game.

In the first half, Washington was flagged four times for 40 yards. That’s way too much and it routinely put the Huskies in tough positions. D'Angalo Titialii was called for a personal foul that pushed the Huskies back 15 yards early on and that derailed a potentially exciting drive.

These sorts of penalties cost the Huskies valuable yardage, disrupt what is possible on offense, and cost Washington opportunities at scoring. And so it isn’t all that shocking that Washington has looked all sorts of out of sync.

In the first half, the Huskies managed to gain just 198 total yards and they kicked a field goal. That’s it. That’s a problem. And folks are more than just mad with Jedd Fisch right now.

Washington Husky fans incensed with Jedd Fisch after awful first half against Rutgers Scarlet Knights

This game is an absolute mess for the Huskies right now.

Given the way that Washington has struggled in just ridiculous ways in this game, it’s fair for folks to question Fisch and the Washington Husky coaching staff right now.

Heck, there are people who would like the Huskies to fire him right now.

Will Fisch return to his alma mater at the end of this season? It sounds like there are some who would like to see that happen.

The errors in execution have to stop if Washington is going to get back into this game. Fisch has his work cut out for him. The Huskies are down 11 points at half and they’ve got plenty of issues that need to be cleaned up.
