Another week of Washington Husky football and we’re once again presented with another frustrating loss for Jedd Fisch and the Washington Huskies. This time, UW lost on the road by three points when facing off against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.

And this happened despite the fact that the Huskies managed to outgain the Scarlet Knights by a rather significant margin. With this loss, UW has suffered two infuriating defeats on the season and Washington Husky football fans are absolutely going to be frustrated with the way the team performed right now.

The Huskies managed to gain a grand total of 521 yards of offense. Rutgers had just 299. The Huskies’ defense did its job and Washington’s offense did the thing where it was clear that it could gain yards but could not score points. 18 points on 521 total yards of offense? Yikes.

At quarterback for the Huskies, Will Rogers managed to throw for 306 yards on 26 of 36 attempts passing. Right alongside Rogers, Coleman picked up 148 rushing yards on just 16 carries (which was good for 9.3 yards per carry).

And still, despite all those yards, Washington couldn’t consistently get the ball into the end zone. And that is just one of several points of frustration regarding the Washington Huskies this season.

Washington Husky fans angry over less-than-ideal offense, frustrating road loss vs. Rutgers

This loss was disappointing in so many ways. The lack of clean execution on offense until way too late in the game, the whole situation surrounding swapping quarterbacks at random times with seemingly little logic behind the switches, and all of the penalties and errors that ended UW drives or gave Rutgers an opportunity.

The whole deal stunk and Washington fans aren’t happy about it.

Now, it is worth noting that Washington is in a bit of a rebuild. Patience is needed to an extent, but many of the issues that UW has had early this season still probably shouldn’t be there. And that’s something that will need to be fixed if this season is going to turn around.

Yeah, it sure should've been a winnable one, even if some folks weren't as sold as I was on Rutgers' chances of being a decent team this year. But, yes, it should've been winnable.

Washington is now 3-2 overall and 1-1 against Big Ten teams. If the Huskies are going to make a bowl game, they’ve got to find a way to win some conference games sooner rather than later.
