Washington Huskies’ week 9 opponent demonstrated offensive firepower vs. Maryland
By Ethan Lee
Once again, the Indiana Hoosiers managed to put on an incredible offensive display. This season has been something special for Curt Cignetti and his Hoosiers. And as a result, the Washington Huskies’ week nine opponent managed to beat up on the Maryland Terrapins in week five.
It’s going to be a bit before Jedd Fisch and the Huskies take on the Hoosiers, but it’s never a bad idea to take a look around what’s happening in the Big Ten and check out teams that might cause headaches for Washington Husky fans later.
So, as we get a glimpse of what to expect down the stretch of this season, it’s important to note just how good Indiana’s offense looked this past weekend.
The Hoosiers’ efficient and balanced attack put the Maryland Terrapins in a dilemma defensively. Hoosiers quarterback Kurtis Rourke was efficient and explosive as he completed 22 of his 33 pass attempts for 359 yards and three touchdowns.
Oh, and he did have two interceptions, but that wasn’t anywhere near enough to derail what Indiana was capable of accomplishing this past Saturday..
Washington Huskies’ week 9 opponent Indiana Hoosiers handle the Maryland Terrapins with ease in week 5 matchup
I don’t think many people expected the Hoosiers to be 5-0 and I think even fewer expected Indiana’s offense to look this good this soon with this coaching staff. But what Cignetti is doing has been remarkable.
Indiana’s batch of running backs had some fun in this game as well as Ty Son Lawton managed to run the ball 19 times for 93 yards and a touchdown. Justice Ellison got 12 carries for 51 yards and a touchdown. It was a fun game for just about everyone on Indiana’s roster.
And while I’m ultimately not yet convinced that the Hoosiers are going to be this good all throughout the remainder of the season, what he’s accomplished so far this season is commendable.
There’s a fair bit of time between now and this week nine matchup between the Hoosiers and Huskies, but I’m not looking forward to seeing what Indiana is capable of on offense. Of course, that’ll also be a great test of Washington’s defense as well.
