The Oregon Ducks have, at times, had issues with execution and playing up to their potential so far this season (that’s something they’ve got in common with the Washington Huskies right now). But what Oregon does have that Washington doesn’t is, unfortunately, an unblemished record.

Dan Lanning’s Ducks had no issue on Saturday as they faced off with the UCLA Bruins in Pasadena. Oregon dominated on the road, beating UCLA 34-13 and improved to 4-0 on the season and 1-0 in Big Ten play.

Now, it’s worth noting that UCLA isn’t all that great, but that’s still a solid win for a team that hasn’t fully found its rhythm just yet. Oregon looked good in this game. Maybe not quite “national title contender” good, but they weren’t far from it. The Ducks efficiently processed UCLA en route to a 21-point win.

For the most part, Oregon’s offense was chugging along without many issues. Dillon Gabriel wasn’t perfect, but he was efficient and threw for 278 yards and three touchdowns (along with an interception) all while completing 31 of 41 pass attempts.

Oregon Ducks, Washington Huskies’ week 14 foe, handle the UCLA Bruins with ease in week 5

Washington seems to have a pretty solid pass defense, so it’ll be intriguing to see how the Huskies could contend with an Oregon offense that seems content to dink and dunk its way down the field. But it’s also worth noting that the Ducks were able to get a solid win over a defense that is probably better than most are willing to give credit for.

Speaking of solid defensive efforts, Oregon’s defense looked good on Saturday. To be completely honest, I’m not excited about seeing Washington’s inconsistent scoring offense try to take on the Ducks. UCLA was held to a grand total of 172 yards.

While I believe the Huskies are considerably better on offense than the Bruins are, I don’t love that stat!

For Jedd Fisch and the Washington Huskies to be able to contend with Oregon later this season, UW absolutely has to figure out its execution issues. We’ve got plenty of games and a couple of bye weeks between now and then, but this game could certainly be a mess for Washington if the Huskies aren’t careful.
