Week one hasn’t been kind to the Washington Huskies’ opponent for the 12th week of the 2024 Washington Huskies football schedule. The UCLA Bruins took a trip all the way out west to Hawaii and they don’t look so great!

It’s still early in the season and this game between UCLA and Hawaii isn’t done just yet, but this could be rather significant for the Huskies’ game against the Bruins as both try to find their footing in the Big Ten this season.

UCLA, once a formidable Pac-12 team, is trailing the HAwaii Rainbow Warriors by a score of 10-7 roughly halfway through the third quarter. The Bruins offense is sputtering (as evidenced by that score) and has been inconsistent. In total, UCLA has only managed just 175 total yards of offense.

If there’s a bright side it’s that Hawaii hasn’t been able to run up the score against the Bruins defense. The Rainbow Warriors have just 186 yards of offense, which isn’t that impressive.

Again, it’s early, but it has to be seen as something of a good omen that UCLA is struggling against a team like Hawaii, right?

This sort of underwhelming performance and the struggles from UCLA quarterback Ethan Garbers (who has completed just 10 of his 23 passes for a grand total of 129 yards and one touchdown against two picks so far) should give Washington fans even more hope about how these two teams will measure up against each other.

Of course, it’s also worth noting that we haven’t seen what Washington looks like just yet. So, it may be worth holding off on any sort of schadenfreude celebrations for now. Let’s wait until the game against Weber State wraps up, shall we?
