Washington Huskies vs. Eastern Michigan: Huskies heavy favorites per ESPN analytics
By Ethan Lee
Week two for Jedd Fisch and his Washignton Huskies football team and we’re getting yet another non-conference opponent.
Fresh off of a solid start to the Big Ten era of Washington football (and fresh off a 35-3 win over Weber State), Fisch and his Huskies will be welcoming the Eastern Michigan Eagles to Alaska Airlines Field at Husky Stadium this weekend.
And right now, it’s looking like ESPN’s magical computers that crank through absurd amounts of data and math seem to believe that Fisch and the Washington Huskies will have a great job of competing in and winning this matchup.
Heck, ESPN's analytical models really seem to believe in Washington’s chances of winning as the Huskies were on the receiving end of all that respect this past week.
Washington Huskies a huge favorite vs. Eastern Michigan, according to ESPN analytics
According to the ESPN Football Power Index and the ESPN matchup predictor tools, the Eagles are being given a 92.2 percent chance of beating the Eagles in Husky Stadium on Saturday. All things considered, that’s a pretty solid percentage, to be completely honest.
And it makes some sense when you look at how Jonah Coleman and Will Rogers absolutely thrived in leading the UW offense in week one. With Coleman and Rogers combining for four total touchdowns and leading the offense to rack up 480+ yards, it’s fair to think that Eastern Michigan doesn’t put up a unique challenge at the moment and that this offense is going to be fun to watch this weekend (and also this season).
Also, let’s give a big shoutout to Steve Belichick for his hard work and for the way that his defense shut Weber State’s offense down HARD last week. It’ll be intriguing to see if he can do it once more this week against EMU.
