Washington Huskies vs. Eastern Michigan Eagles: 3 Huskies that stood out in win
By Mark Knight
No. 2: Zach Durfee
Durfee was an absolute one man wrecking crew on the defensive line. He seemed like he was in the backfield on almost every play and constantly making noise. He accumlated 5 total tackles which is a big number for a defensive lineman who's primary goal is rushing the quarterback.
More impressive than that, he had 2.5 sacks of the seven total defensive sacks.
Sitting out all of last season because of transfer issues with the NCAA, he came into this game ready to make his name and he did exactly that. It wasn't just the sacks or the tackles, it was the constant pressure and ability to be disruptive in the backfield. This could be a big season for Durfee if he keeps this pressure going and finds ways to get to the QB.
He currently is tied for third in the Big 10 in sacks after this one performance, only behind the leaders by 0.5 sacks. As we look forward to some of the upcoming matchups, we will need to continue to have his disruptive presence especially as the Big Ten games are coming and the Apple Cup is this week.
