Washington Huskies vs. Eastern Michigan Eagles: 3 Huskies that stood out in win
By Mark Knight
No. 1: Gaard Memmelaar - Offensive Line
It's not often you see an offensive lineman make one of the stars of the game. However, this man may have single-handedly saved the game.
The entire first quarter and the first few drives for the Huskies were absolutely terrible. They were lifeless and had zero flow, the quarterback was seeing pressure and everyone was out of sync. This team needed some fire and needed a leader to get the spark going. Memmelaar rose to the challenge.
It was moments after this tweet was fired out that the Big Ten television crew showed the entire offense surrounding one man, not a coach, but Memmelaar and he was literally chewing his team out and firing them up. The next drive (that they obtained on a fumble) they went 6 plays and scored the game's first touchdown on a impressive throw and catch by Decker DeGraaf.
It may be that the fumble is what sparked the momentum and got the game right, but Memmelaar certainly had a role to play in firing up this offense and because of that, he needs to be one of the players of the game.
