Things went well for Jedd Fisch and the Washington Husky football team in the 2024 season opener in Seattle. That might be a bit of an understatement, to be completely honest, but a relatively slow and disjointed start kind of impacted the overall pace of the game for the Huskies early on.

With a ton of new faces all around the roster and a brand new head coach, offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator, quarterback, running back, and so on and so forth, it shouldn't be all that shocking that the Huskies need to polish a few things up, but it's never a bad day when you're able to get a 35-3 win to start a season.

The Huskies weren't able to put up any points in the first quarter, but quarterback Will Rogers and running back Jonah Coleman were able to find a groove in the second quarter. As a result, the Huskies marched down the field in seven plays, gaining 65 yards, and scored less than three minutes into the second quarter.

Coleman got the Huskies on the board with a five-yard touchdown run, which happened to be his first of three touchdown runs on the day.

Later in the second quarter, Washington's passing attack finally took off in a way that made it clear there's some potential for a lot of fun to be had through the air this season.

With 4:22 left on the clock, Rogers quickly completed three consecutive passes to march the Huskies down the field in a hurry. His first completion was for 18 yards. He followed that up with an eight yard pass and then a 13 yard pass.

And then a breakthrough. Rogers was able to effortlessly connect with Decker DeGraaf for a 33-yard touchdown to give the Huskies a 14-0 advantage over the Weber State Wildcats heading into halftime of the season opener.

Jonah Coleman takes over in the third quarter

Jonah Coleman is unstoppable. Just flat out. Defenses are going to get a headache trying to slow him down this season.

In the third quarter of the 2024 Washington Huskies season opener against Weber State, Coleman managed to cut into the end zone on two more occasions, giving the Huskies a 28-0 lead halfway through the third quarter.

In total, Coleman carried the ball 16 times, gaining 127 yards, and scoring three touchdowns in the process. Coleman looked dangerous when he got into the open field and should continue to help this offense find its groove moving forward.

Fisch and the Huskies have a lot to be proud of. There's some potential for the Huskies to build upon the success they found against Weber State.
