The UCLA Bruins struggling against the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors is something that Washington Husky football fans should be very aware of and it seems like the ESPN analytics prediction for the late season game between the Washington Huskies and Bruins will get an interesting update depending on how that game ends.

Right now, the Huskies are being given a pretty strong chance of beating the Bruins. And that’s before the Huskies even take the field against the Weber State Wildcats for the 2024 Washington Huskies season opener.

There’s a very real chance that we see Washington’s chances of beating the Bruins continue to grow. Especially if UCLA loses a few games between here and there and Washington surprises some folks this season. Given how much of an unknown Washington is for many people, that seems possible.

Washington Huskies vs. UCLA Bruins early ESPN prediction: Huskies favored by ESPN Analytics Matchup Predictor tool

Heading into the first game of the 2024 WAshington Huskies football season, ESPN's Matchup Predictor (which is connected to its Football Power Index), is giving the Huskies a 61.5 percent chance of beating UCLA when the Huskies and Bruins meet in Husky Stadium later this season.

That’s a pretty good chance of winning for Jedd Fisch and his Huskies. It’s not the greatest ever and you’d likely like to see that percentage be higher in Washington’s favor, but we’ll take it for what it is right now. UCLA looks rough and is struggling against teams like Hawaii. We don’t know what the Huskies are going to look like because of all of the turnover that has happened this offseason.

The Huskies haven’t finished a game yet, so we really don’t know what they look like heading into this season. We’ll find that out soon enough as Fisch and Washington host Weber State in Husky Stadium to kick off the season.
