Washington mock draft. . Round 2. . Michael Penix Jr.. 40. Pick 40. Michael Penix Jr.. player. 44

Michael Penix Jr. did wonders for his draft stock in his senior season. He took every year of eligibility he could with a redshirt season and an extra year all players got because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Penix Jr. is going into the draft as one of the older quarterbacks at the age of 23, but while some people see it as being old, I see it as being experienced.

The Falcons desperately need a quarterback to lead this team. They have everything else in place, a solid enough defense, and the weapons on offense, they just need someone to lead those weapons. Desmond Ridder was not the answer at quarterback and now the Falcons are back to the QB drawing board.

Penix Jr. could be the answer to all of Atlanta's problems. They can probably afford to wait and get him in the second round and go bigger in the first round to aid their defense. His experience will be helpful for first-year head coach Raheem Morris. His strong arm and ability to scramble are a highlight of who he is as a player. He is moldable and teachable and that is what the Falcons need right now.
