Very early ESPN Analytics prediction gives Washington an uphill battle vs USC Trojans
By Ethan Lee
The Jedd Fisch era of Washington Huskies football is here. Also, the Big Ten era of Washington Huskies football is underway. Interestingly enough, the Big Ten era of USC Trojans football is also here for us to see.
These two former Pac-12 programs left the mess of a conference they were involved with and are now in one of the most prominent conference in all of college football. And though the Trojans and Huskies have yet to actually play a game as a member of the Big Ten, ESPN analytics is predicting that the Trojans have a decent shot of beating Washington later this season.
It’s a bit of a coin toss, when examining the percentages and such, but it’s still a frustrating thing to see for this matchup between former Pac-12 powerhouse teams.
Washington vs. USC: Pre-week 1 ESPN analytics prediction gives Trojans decent chance of beating Huskies
Ahead of the first game on the 2024 Washington football schedule, the Huskies are currently being given just a 44.8 percent chance of beating the USC Trojans later this year. It’s probably pretty safe to call that one a toss up game, but it’s still enough of a decent chance in USC’s favor that I’m not a fan, to be completely honest.
It’s like the Rutgers deal. I just don’t like this.
Yes, there’s the obligatory note about how things will inevitably change between now and when the Washington vs. USC game actually kicks off. It’s also probably wise to consider that USC is a bit more stable as a program right now, even if Lincoln Riley is facing some pressure from boosters and such.
The Trojans haven’t gone through all of the changes that the Washington Huskies have over the past eight months. There’s a lot of unknowns about Washington right now. So we’ll see how it all plays out later this season.
