Quick preview: Jedd Fisch, Washington Huskies start new era vs. Weber State
By Ethan Lee
Jedd Fisch and the Washington Huskies will start a brand new era in Seattle on Saturday evening as they host the Weber State Wildcats at Alaska Airlines Field at Husky Stadium. Fisch, the Huskies football team, and Huskies football fans have to be thrilled that the season is finally here with the offseason that we’ve seen this team go through.
Let’s quickly highlight what you need to know for this game, shall we?
Washington Huskies to break in new roster vs. Weber State
The Huskies managed to go 14-1 and compete for a national championship last season, but this team will look very different from that one. As noted in the team notes shared by the Washington athletics department, 41 players from last year’s roster are gone and 59 new players have been added to the roster.
Add in the changes with the coaching staff and the coaching philosophies and this is functionally a brand new team. This game will help us get a little more familiar with the Huskies and Fisch as we move forward and keep up with the team in the Big Ten.

What to know about Washington vs. Weber State
- Washington is unranked heading into 2024
- Weber State is the No. 22 team in the FCS
- This is the first meeting between the Huskies and Wildcats
What to watch for in Washington vs. Weber State:
- There are a few things to keep an eye on in this contest, including how the offense looks with a brand new quarterback, a brand new running back, and a brand new system with Jedd Fisch and Brennan Carroll.
- Will we see the Huskies struggle to adjust to all of the newness that is on this roster?
- Keep an eye on transfers like Will Rogers, Jonah Coleman, and Ephesians Prysock
Even though nearly everything has changed, Washington should still be abel to handle Weber State with ease. There’s a sizable talent gap that exists here and the Huskies should be more than capable of taking advantage of that.
