As the Washington Huskies and Jedd Fisch get ready for their season opener against the Weber State Wildcats, it’s fair to acknowledge that Fisch is probably a bit more familiar with some of his players than others. That’s normal for most supervisors or managers or bosses or what have you who enter a new organization and bring some folks with them.

Well, one of the very talented and fascinating folks that Fisch brought with him when he ended up making the move from living in the desert to ending up in the Pacific Northwest was a star running back for the Arizona Wildcats.

Shoutout to Jonah Coleman, a remarkable junior running back who transferred from Arizona after Fisch left the Wildcats to come coach the Huskies.

Washington Huskies set depth chart for season opener vs. Weber State: Running back position in focus

In addition to all of the familiarity that Coleman has with Fisch and Washington Huskies offensive coordinator Brennan Carroll (as well as all of the familiarity that Coleman has with their offensive systems), the talented running back brings a lot of valuable experience carving up opposing defenses.

As the Huskies head into their first season in the Big Ten, Fisch and company will almost certainly be looking to Coleman to help bolster their offense in some very tangible ways. During his time at Arizona, Coleman definitely proved he’s a versatile and valuable offensive weapon.

Over the course of two seasons with the Wildcats, Coleman carried the ball 203 times and ran for 1243 yards (good for 6.1 yards per carry) as well as nine touchdowns. In the passing game, Coleman managed to catch 33 passes for a total of 307 yards and a receiving touchdown.

So, if you want to do a little math right there, you’ll find that Coleman totaled 1550 yards of offense and 10 touchdowns across two seasons.

That’s not bad.

And that sort of experience and versatility could certainly help Will Rogers as the former Mississippi State quarterback gets used to a new offensive system, a bunch of new faces around him, and tries to move forward in leading the offense.
