Washington Huskies special teams vs. Eastern Michigan: B+

I don’t have any major concerns with where the Huskies are when it comes to talking about their special teams right now. Because there hasn’t really been anything alarming that has happened up to this point. Jack McCallister was solid on the two punts he got to kick as he totaled 100 punt yards on just two punts. That’s not bad.

When it comes to kicking, Grady Gross knocked a 28-yard field goal through the uprights in the third quarter. There was an extra point attempt that ended up getting blocked, but otherwise the kicking game was just fine.

When it comes to kick returns and punt returns, there really wasn’t anything major that happened here. So, it’s fine.

As a whole, the special teams unit wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great. It is, however, a good thing that Fisch and the Huskies didn’t need to rely on their special teams unit to try and come up big in a game like this. Eastern Michigan just isn’t a team that should really be challenging Washington and the Huskies were able to pull away after a bit of an early challenge from EMU.

But, at the end of the day, Washington won. That early challenge wasn’t enough to make this game controversial in any major way. And we get to talk about the Huskies having two wins and zero losses. That’s fun.
