Bralen Trice was a three-star recruit out of Arizona in 2019 and has a chance to become a first-round pick in the NFL Draft next month.
Trice redshirted his first year at the University of Washington under head coach Jimmy Lake and opted out of the following season due to COVID-19. In 2021, Trice had a total of 14 tackles, five tackles for loss, two sacks, and a touchdown via fumble recovery.
This showcased a promising future for Trice.
In 2022, Trice improved with 38 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, and nine sacks. In 2023, his final year with the Huskies, Trice had 49 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, 7 sacks, two passes defended, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.
The 6'4" 275-pound redshirt junior has been named a two-time first-team All-Pac-12 honoree two years in a row (2022 and 2023). He also earned defensive MVP in bowl games against Texas (2022 Alamo Bowl and 2024 Sugar Bowl).
Strengths
Trice has good size and frame for an NFL edge rusher. He's very strong at the point of attack and utilizes his hands to efficiently get off blocks. He knows how to drive his feet through contact and has the strength to push through linemen.
Weaknesses
Trice isn't a very twitchy edge rusher and struggles with pass-rush moves that rely on speed. His stiff hips limit his change of direction. Not having a full arsenal of rush moves effects his ability to convert pressures into sacks.
Trice is a player who is so good right now but still has so much potential.
