We’ve played five weeks of Washington Huskies football in 2024 and Denzel Boston has proven to be among the Big Ten’s best wide receivers. As it stands right now, he’s currently atop the Big Ten’s receiving leaderboard when it comes to catching touchdown passes.

Boston, just a sophomore wide receiver, is making waves for Washington as he leads one of the best conferences in college football in touchdown receptions. That’s a hard thing to do given the amount of talent at wide receiver that exists across this conference as well as the amount of talent that these teams have on defense.

But Boston’s stellar showings have been instrumental for Washington’s offense as a whole as well as Washington quarterback Will Rogers in his first season with the Huskies. Boston has become arguably Rogers’ favorite target and in the Huskies’ week five game against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, the dynamic wide receiver was huge in multiple tough situations.

Following five weeks of play, here are the best in the Big Ten conference when it comes to catching touchdown passes:

  • Denzel Boston, Washington Huskies  - seven touchdowns
  • Pat Bryant, Illinois Fighting Illini - six touchdowns
  • Jeremiah Smith, Ohio State Buckeyes - five touchdowns
  • Tai Felton, Maryland Terrapins - five touchdowns
  • Tez Johnson, Oregon Ducks - four touchdowns

It should be noted that not all of those players have had the chance to play in five games this season yet the way that Boston has, but that shouldn’t take away from his accomplishment. That’s just the nature of the way the schedule works out.

If the Huskies are going to make it to a bowl game this season and find a way to disrupt the Big Ten a bit, they’ll need Boston to continue to be a strong target for Rogers down the stretch of the season. He’s shown he can do it up to this point in the season. Let’s see how he plays throughout the remainder of the year.
