It’s going to be a little bit before Jedd Fisch and the Washington Huskies meet up with the Michigan Wolverines for a rematch of last season’s national title game, but it’s certainly worthwhile keeping an eye on how Michigan is doing right now.

And right now, the Texas Longhorns are exposing some rather significant weaknesses in Michigan. The Wolverines, at half, find themselves in a pretty deep hole as they trail Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns 24-3 at the half.

Michigan looks vulnerable. And that’s intriguing to see.

UT has been able to really push the Wolverines around a bit and the Longhorns have outgained Michigan by a margin of 279 yards to just 88 yards of offense. The Wolverines look solid on defense, for the most part, but Texas has found a rhythm and is doing well against a really talented Michigan defense.

Washington Husky football fans should take note of how the Michigan Wolverines are reeling at halftime vs. the Texas Longhorns

And while the Wolverines have had a few solid moments on defense, there’s nothing to write home about when it comes to examining their offense right now. Michigan has just 49 passing yards and they’ve only mustered a grand total of 39 rushing yards.

That offense was a mess last week and it’s a mess once again. The Wolverines just look so radically different than what they had a season ago and they’re not keeping up with Texas right now. Maybe that changes in the second half, but it seems unlikely that the Longhorns don’t keep running away with this one.

And that’s significant. Even though Washington’s current roster isn’t as talented as what Texas has lined up, the Longhorns are exposing some serious vulnerabilities with Michigan right now. And that could help create a blueprint for beating Michigan.

The Huskies will need to find a way to gameplan around the Wolverines’ talented defense, but maybe Texas is proving just how a team can do that.
