The second home game of the 2024 Washington Husky football season will apparently be featuring “thousands of local school marching bands,” according to a press release from the University of Washington athletics department.

You read that right. THOUSANDS. That’s a lot of local marching bands that will be making their way to Alaska Airlines Field at Husky Stadium. And why will they be there, exactly? Well, great question friend.

The Washington Huskies will be hosting all of our musically talented friends for “Band Day,” which is making a return to The Greatest Setting in College Football as one of this season’s six home game themes. And as a result, we’re going to see a lot of folks who are musically inclined at a Washington Huskies football game. And that’s kinda cool, to be completely honest.

It’s a solid promotion.

Washington vs. Eastern Michigan: Band Day Returns to Husky Stadium

The Husky Marching Band isn’t getting left out of this. As the press release notes, this is an “annual celebration” of the band and for “Seattle music lovers everywhere.” So, part of this promotion and musical celebration will feature a halftime show that has some of those thousands of local marching bands joining the Husky Marching Band on the field.

That’s a cool opportunity for the youths, you know?

In addition to all of the folks who are good at playing instruments, the Huskies will be hosting the Eastern Michigan football team for the Huskies’ second game (and also their second home game) of the season. That’s right, after meeting up with Weber State in Husky Stadium on Saturday, August 31, the Huskies host Eastern Michigan on Saturday, September 7.

So, if you like musical extravaganzas or Washington football or a little bit of both, this is a great chance for you to get to The Greatest Setting in College Football and celebrate an often underappreciated part of what makes college football so great.
