No. 1: It looks like Will Rogers might be a decent quarterback in this offense

Again, still early, but it kinda looks like Will Rogers might just be finding his groove in the Husky offense designed by Jedd Fisch and Brennan Carroll. In week one against Weber State, Rogers only managed to throw one touchdown (Jonah Coleman did much of the work for the offense against the Wildcats during UW’s season opener.

In week two, Rogers did the heavy lifting as it came to getting the ball into the endzone for the Huskies. Rogers was efficient (which is something that we knew he would be when he arrived on Montlake from Starkville), but simply saying efficient kinda feels like you’re underselling how good he was against Eastern Michigan.

Against the Eagles, Rogers completed 21 of 26 pass attempts for 261 yards, four touchdowns, and zero interceptions. While he had some early stumbles in this contest (including a literal one that was frustrating to watch) and there were a few instances of him and his receivers not necessarily being on the same page, Rogers looked good.

Plenty of people are going to compare him to Michael Penix Jr., but it’s important to remember that Rogers isn’t playing in the same scheme, with the same receivers, or behind the same offensive line that Penix had. It’s also worth noting that Rogers doesn’t have the same level of familiarity with this coaching staff the way that Penix did with Kalen DeBoer.

Oh, and the guy is traditionally an Air Raid quarterback. That’s been said at least once or twice.

There’s been a steep learning curve for Rogers and it will only get steeper as the Huskies move into a rivalry game this weekend. But so far, Rogers looks decent.
