No. 2: Washington Huskies vs. Michigan Wolverines (57.9 percent chance of victory) - October 5, home
The Washington Huskies weren’t able to beat the Michigan Wolverines back in January in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game, but there is a chance at redemption this weekend as the Huskies host the Wolverines in Seattle.
And interestingly enough, ESPN’s Football Power Index is giving the Washington Huskies a 57.9 percent chance of being able to beat the Big Ten blue blood program. But of course, that’s still a really close percentage. Michigan is still a blue blood program. The Wolverines have a ton of talent, especially on defense.
Can the Huskies get a bit of revenge in this rematch game?
It is worth noting that these two teams are functionally rebuilding. They’re both very different from the teams that played in the national title game in Houston back in January. There are two new head coaches in this game. The coaching staffs across the board look different. And the starting lineups and rosters have seen their own fair shares of changes.
Both of these teams happen to be a little flawed. The Washington Huskies have been committing errors and penalties left and right. Michigan hasn’t figured out that it’s legal to throw the ball around (and they don’t really have the personnel to do so effectively at the moment). It’ll be interesting to see who wins this one.
