While things have changed all over the place for the Washington Huskies football team, there is a bit of continuity taking place at tight end. The starting tight end for the Huskies has managed to get playing time (with the Huskies) in 28 games across three different seasons. And that could make a bit of a difference for the Huskies as they jump into the Big Ten.

Quentin Moore, a senior tight end who joined the Huskies all the way back in January 2021 after playing for Independence Community College in Kansas, has earned the starting spot at tight end, according to the game notes and depth chart that were released by the Washington athletics department earlier this week.

Moore weighs in at 6-5 and 257 pounds. And while he hasn’t been the most active member of Washington’s offense ever (he caught his first touchdown pass when the Huskies beat the Oregon Ducks in the Pac-12 championship game last season), that level of familiarity with this program matters given all of the changes that have taken place.

Behind Moore sit a couple of other tight ends who are vying for playing time. At the moment, according to the depth chart in the game notes, neither of them have managed to solidly grab the second spot on the two-deep given that there’s an “or” listed right with them.

Here’s what the 2024 season opener depth chart looks like for the Washington Huskies at tight end:

  • Quentin Moore, Sr., 6-4, 257 lbs
  • Keleki Latu, Sr., 6-7, 244 lbs
  • OR Decker DeGraaf, Fr., 6-3, 240 lbs

While it seems plausible that Jedd Fisch and the Huskies will be able to take advantage of Moore's experience and physicality, they’ve also got Keleki Latu, who weights in at 6-7 and is 244 pounds, and Decker DeGraaf, who is young, but has some potential.

Fisch is known for being an offensive innovator and he’s got Brennan Carroll to help continue to develop an offensive scheme that utilizes the talent available to them. With these three at tight end, it will be interesting to see how they’re incorporated into the passing and rushing attacks this season.
