2024 Washington Huskies season opener depth chart: Linebackers
By Ethan Lee
Things will look quite a bit different for the Washington Huskies this season. The roster will be drastically updated and feature a ton of new faces that some fans may not yet be familiar with. But thankfully there is a little bit of carryover from last season to this season.
And the Washington Huskies will find that at linebacker.
Huskies head coach Jedd Fisch and his staff finished up the depth chart and released it earlier this week and, to no one’s surprise, there are a ton of new names seemingly everywhere. That makes sense given that 41 players left and 59 new ones showed up since last season ended.
But guys like senior Alphonzo Tuputala? Well, he’s back for another season at linebacker for the Huskies. Let’s go over what the linebacker corps looks like for Washington heading into the season opener against the Weber State Wildcats.
Washington Huskies 2024 depth chart: Huskies have familiar faces lining up at linebacker vs. Weber State Wildcats
Leading things at linebacker is the aforementioned Tuputala, who is now in his sixth year in Seattle as a Washington Husky. He managed to start in 14 of last season’s 15 games and recorded 69 total tackles during the 2023 season.
The Huskies also have Carson Bruener who is set to start at linebacker opposite of Tuputala. And like Tuputala, Bruener is a very, very experienced Washington Husky linebacker. Bruener has been with Washington for five seasons and played in all 15 games in 2023.
With all of the changes that have taken place, it will be nice to have some familiar faces lining up in the middle of Washington’s defense for this coming season. The Huskies have a new head coach, new defensive coordinator, new offensive coordinator, various different new position coaches, a bunch of new transfer players, and even a new conference.
It’s nice to have something that resembles continuity with the Huskies heading into the 2024 Washington Husky football season.
