As the Washington Huskies continue with their first season of life in the Big Ten, they will, of course, play some Big Ten conference games. And the first Big Ten team on Washington’s 2024 schedule happens to be another purple institution.

The Northwestern Wildcats will be leaving their temporary home stadium in Chicago and coming to The Greatest Setting in College Football to play against Jedd Fisch and the Washington Huskies in the first ever Big Ten conference game for Washington.

And of course, it also happens to be the first Big Ten game hosted at Alaska Airlines Field in Husky Stadium. A ton of Washington Husky football history is being made with this contest. So, when will the game take place?

Washington Huskies vs. Northwestern Wildcats: 2024 first ever Washington Huskies Big Ten conference game details

  • Who: Washington Huskies vs Northwestern Wildcats
  • What: Washington's 4th game of the 2024 season
  • When: September 21, 2024
  • Where: Alaska Airlines field at Husky Stadium, Seattle, Washington

This isn’t the first time that Northwestern and Washington have faced each other. In fact, there have been three prior meetings between the Huskies and the Wildcats. And Northwestern has yet to claim a single win in the series.

In fact, Northwestern hasn’t scored a point against Washington since these two teams first met all the way back in 1980. And Washington has routinely beaten up on the Wildcats in each and every matchup between the Huskies and Northwestern.

In the first meeting, Northwestern lost by a very lopsided 45-7 in 1980. They met again in 1983 with Washington shutting the Wildcats out, beating Northwestern by a score of 34-0. And then, in 1984, Washington won once more, beating Northwestern 26-0. That’s pretty one sided.

Granted, it’s been a few decades since those games have taken place. And when these two teams meet again, hopefully we’ll see Washington once more get a lopsided victory over the Wildcats.
