Since the Washington Huskies are moving into the Big Ten from the Pac-12, that means that Jedd Fisch and his Huskies will get to play against some traditional (and very Midwest) opponents this season. And, well, for every season moving forward until the end of time or end of the world, I suppose.

Anyways, Washington will get the distinct pleasure of traveling to Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City, Iowa to play against the very lively and explosive Iowa Hawkeyes. I’m joking, kind of. Iowa’s offense isn’t exactly a thing of beauty, folks. They have struggled to score points in recent seasons and that will be, uh, a sight to behold in October in Iowa.

That’s part of the deal of being in the Big Ten, folks. You get to meet up with the very intense defense that Iowa brings to the table as well as the very slow and unique (and very run heavy and probably a little archaic) Iowa Hawkeyes offense.

Washington Huskies vs. Iowa Hawkeyes game details

  • Who: Washington Huskies vs. Iowa Hawkeyes
  • What: 7th game of the 2024 season
  • When: October 12, 2024
  • Where: Kinnick Stadium, Iowa City, Iowa

What makes this game really interesting is it will be the second very physical game the Huskies will get in as many weeks. Jedd Fisch will get the pleasure of welcoming the Michigan Wolverines to Seattle the week prior to this. And then there’s this matchup.

So, we’re going to be seeing a lot of very traditional branded Big Ten football in back-to-back weeks for the Huskies.

The environment will be interesting to keep an eye on. Even though Iowa doesn’t exactly light up scoreboards, they win by playing to their strengths and thriving in very Midwest weather. October isn’t always brutally cold in Iowa City, but it might get sloppy and uncomfortable to be in. So, welcome to the Big Ten, Washington. This one will be interesting to see.
