Unfortunately, the Washington Huskies won’t get to play every single game on the 2024 Washington football schedule at home in Alaska Airlines Field at Husky Stadium. They will, indeed, need to travel a bit. And since Washington is now a member of the Big Ten, that means they’re not traveling just a little bit. The Huskies will be traveling a lot this season.

And that includes a very long trip all the way across the country to meet up with the Rutgers Scarlet Knights in Piscataway, New Jersey. That’s just part of life in college football now.

Washington Huskies vs. Rutgers Scarlet Knights 2024 game details

  • Who: Washington Huskies vs. Rutgers Scarlet Knights
  • What: 5th game of the 2024 season
  • When: September 27, 2024 (Friday)
  • Where: SHI Stadium, Piscataway, New Jersey

The Washington Huskies wanted to be in the Big Ten. Sometimes that means you get to go to Rutgers for a road game.

That’s a very, very long way to travel for a football game, but being in the Big Ten is providing stability for Washington. So, let’s accept that this is what it is. And if you’re a Washington Husky football fan living in New Jersey, you don’t have to travel all the way across the country to watch your favorite team.

Not everything about this move to a new conference is great, but that can be counted as a good thing, right?

This is a pretty big milestone as part of this new era of Washington Huskies football. This will be the first true road game in conference play for the Huskies since joining the Big Ten. This is thousands of miles worth of travel that Washington will be going through to play a Big Ten team. That’s a little wild to think about, to be completely honest.
