Man, Reggie Williams had such an iconic and legendary career with the Washington Huskies. He truly was phenomenal in just about everything that he did for UW. Each and every season that he played for the Huskies, Williams had routine and dominant performances that punished opposing defenses and caused a lot of headaches for opposing coaches.
I truly have no proof of this, but I’m absolutely convinced that there’s absolutely no way that Williams didn’t drive at least one opposing defensive coordinator into tears of frustration. He was just too good of a receiver for an opposing coach to not get that angry about trying to slow him down.
We’re talking about the most dominant wide receiver in the history of the Washington Huskies. Just across his career, he performed in such impressive ways that he was able to pen his name all across the Washington Husky record book.
And we’re talking about someone who absolutely set the standard for what it meant to be a great wide receiver for the Huskies.
Washington Husky football history: Reggie Williams set the standard for Washington for quite some time with a dominant 2002 season
During the 2002 season, Williams was able to grab 94 receptions for 1454 yards (a record that previously stood for about 21 years with his name at the top of the UW record book before Rome Odunze eventually claimed the top spot.
Odunze also had 11 receptions, averaged 15.5 yards per catch, and had an average of 111.8 receiving yards pre game. This is a season in which Williams managed to record 198 receiving yards against the Oregon Ducks, torched the Washington State Cougars for 169 yards, and put up 134 receiving yards against the USC Trojans.
Time and time again, Williams came up big in really big moments for the Huskies. He is by far one of the most impressive wide receivers in Washington’s really impressive history of really impressive wide receivers. Williams deserves a ton of recognition.
