Looking back at Washington’s 1000 yard receiving seasons: Jerome Pathon, 1997

A few years before Reggie Williams was embarrassing defenses and long before Rome Odunze was helping Michael Penix Jr. lead the Washington Huskies to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game, Jerome Pathon was an absolute star for the Washington Husky football team. And he managed to make a pretty big impact on the UW football team’s offense in 1997.

During the 1997 season, Pathon managed to set the Washington Husky football record for the most receiving yards recorded by a Husky in a single season. That’s because he managed to haul in 73 receptions for a grand total of 1299 yards (I, for one, wish he’d been credited with just one more yard on a reception along the way), which averages out to 17.8 yards per reception.

Oh, and along with all of those yards, Pathon also managed to catch eight passes that ended up in the end zone.

Washington Husky football history: Jerome Pathon was remarkable for the Huskies back in 1997

Pathon average a rather impressive 108.3 receiving yards per game and he routinely recorded more than 100 receiving yards per game.

Like against the Nebraska Cornhuskers, who saw Pathon put up 195 receiving yards in a single game. Or the San Diego State Aztecs, who witnessed Pathon record 182 yards in a game. Or shoutout to the Oregon Ducks, who allowed Pathon to record 164 yards against them.

Oh, hey, there’s also the BYU Cougars, who managed to limit Pathon to just 163 yards. They technically did better than Oregon did when it came to slowing the remarkable Washington Husky receiver.

This was a pretty effective and impressive way for Pathon to cap his career. And during that career, he recorded 138 receptions for 2,275 yards and 17 touchdowns. His college football career was really, really special.
