Look, he didn’t beat the threshold by much, but it’s certainly clear that Jermaine Kearse cleared the 1000 receiving yards in a single season threshold for the Washington Huskies and we’re going to give him his props for that. He absolutely deserves recognition and a celebration of the hard work that he put in to pull off this really difficult accomplishment.
Especially when you consider that Kearse helped bridge the gaps between eras for the Washington Huskies. I mean, this is a guy that had 1000 receiving yards in a season and that happened well after the last time that Reggie Williams accomplished the feat but also several years before John Ross managed to get past that 1000 yard mark as well.
Kearse accomplishing this when he did is also something that we need to factor in and acknowledge here as we look back at all of the history that surrounds the Washington Husky football program.
Washington Husky football history: Jermaine Kearse was thrilling for the Huskies in 2010
In the 2010 Washington Husky football season, Kearse managed to catch 63 passes and he racked up 1005 receiving yards (good for 16 yards per catch). Oh, and he also grabbed a dozen touchdowns during that 2010 season.
That’s pretty impressive.
A few interesting notes on some specific games in that season:
- Kearse had four touchdown receptions vs. Oregon State
- He managed to rack up 179 yards against the Syracuse Orange
- Kearse had 178 yards against the Washington State cougars
- And he had 146 yards against the Oregon State Beavers
All around, a really impressive season for Kearse as he was a key contributor for the Washington Husky offense in 2010.
This wasn’t Kearse’s final season in Seattle, but it was part of a really impressive career that saw him grab 180 total receptions, 2871 receiving yards, and 29 touchdowns. He is an absolute legend for the Washington Huskies.
